When I created my first name doodle, shown here, I filled in my name with a doodle technique I found that looks like a braid. I was really pleased with how three-dimensional the braid looked when I had finished inking it in. I’m going to show you how to get the same effect! (more…)
I was in Staples this week picking up some paper for our laser printer. While I waited for them to check on an item, I wandered through the pencil and marker aisle. While most of the markers were of the “designed for kids” variety, they did have a tiny section of art pencils and pens. Since I’ve only been using colored pencils up ’til now, I decided to buy a small set of art markers to try out, and this Staedtler triplus color set fit the bill. (more…)

I started coloring as an adult when I was 52. I picked up a few coloring books and crayons for my friends and I to do some inner child work. Though we had fun doing it together, I was the one who fell in love with the art. Soon I was buying coloring books for grown-ups, fancy pencils and markers and special tools for sharpening, erasing, and blending.

When I was deciding on a URL for this site, I searched dozens of domain names and search phrases to see what kind of results Google delivered. AdultColoringBooks.com was always my first choice, and it didn’t occur to me until a couple months after I first started researching the URL that adding “adult” to the name might result in some… interesting search results.
