The Coloring Cafe: A Coloring Book for Grown-Up Girls
Publisher: RJ Smart Publishing
Number of designs: 48
I never know from day to day what to expect when a new artist sends me a book for review. The Coloring Cafe is one of those books that is just a bit different from the normal coloring books that you find in your local craft or book store.
Instead of the typical 8.5 x 11 format, this book is a petite square at 8.2 x 8.2 inches. And as the full title suggests, it makes no excuses for its very feminine style! The illustrations are full of flowers, hearts, butterflies and cute animals. Friendship, love, and other inspirational sayings are sprinkled throughout the book. Desserts, shoes, and fashion are recurring themes.
- Complexity: Beginner to Advanced
- Book Size: 8.2 x 8.2 inches
- Design Borders: varies, but most have a border and 1/2 inch margin
- Design Lines: hand-drawn, so it varies, but mostly thin
- Paper: average thickness
- Printing: single-sided
- Binding: glue-bound
I’ve listed the complexity as beginner to advanced, but most of the designs are highly detailed, requiring sharp pencils or fineliners to color all the small spaces. There are, however, a few designs with larger spaces that beginners could enjoy. The designs make no effort at appearing polished, conveying a folksy, hand-drawn feeling with every line and stroke.
If you enjoy coloring tiny flowers and other detailed illustrations, I believe you will enjoy this book, and it will provide many hours of coloring for you.
