In this book of Zentangle®-inspired patterns, Sharon Wilson turns everyday objects into detailed drawings for you to color. Designs subjects range from candles to cupcakes, and butterflies to bicycles. Whether it’s a simple still life or an intricate landscape, the addition of repeating patterns make these images come alive with possibility.

I find it interesting that I, too, have been exploring some of these patterns and methods in my own drawings recently, and yet when I was looking through this book, I couldn’t find any interest in coloring it! When I think about the designs I’ve created that use these techniques, I realized that my own designs have also been left uncolored.

I think that these tangles, or doodles (for me at least) are complete in themselves and I don’t feel a need to add color. But I know there are others who love to color this type of design, and I’ve seen some absolutely gorgeous finished art made using the Zentangle method and then adding color.
